Linear Net Headquarters
BBS - RabbitLand II
(214) 681-6393
Dallas, Texas
Revised 12-08-95
Dear Sysop,
Thank you for your interest in Linear Net! This is the latest in network
developments devoted mainly to players all around the globe who enjoy
Inter bbs gaming. Along with regular Inter bbs games, regular echo mail
conferences are available for chatting with everyone and anyone connected
to the network. In order for you become a member and get your BBS on-line
ASAP, we ask that you read this document and all the others contained in
this package. These are meant to help you understand our network policies
and to help you get connected as quickly and efficiently as possible so
that your users (and you) can begin to enjoy the benefits of Inter bbs
gaming with the Linear Network.
We currently carry 2 game of Barren Realms Elite as National Tournaments.
We also carry a National POPULOUS League, and Arrow bridge (Role Playing
Game) League, and Lordnet Ibbs, and much much more (read the IBBS.txt for
more information). We plan to bring more games on line when they become
available. If you have a game we could use, please send it our way!!
Depending on your location, local leagues may be available as well. Also
provided are echo mail areas for users to CHAT through. If you will be
getting mail from a Host or Hub, chances are that they may also have a local
BRE league set up.
All members are asked to place the log on screens provided in this package on
their BBS and to make this information package available for download.
It would be greatly appreciated :)

When you are finished reviewing this information (even if you do not wish
to join at this time), we ask that you please make this archive (LINAPP.ZIP)
available on your board for download (if you have file areas.) This way,
we will be able to further spread the word!
Ok, you've reviewed the information, and you wish to become a member of
Linear Net. What now??? Well, you will need to complete the following steps:
1. Fill out the enclosed application (LINEAR.APP).
2. Please save the application using your last name, followed by the
extension .LIN. For example:
John Doe - DOE.LIN
John Van Doestenfer - VANDOE.LIN
3. Next, you will need to send in your application. You can do this
in a couple of ways: either netmail the application via Fido net
to the Net Coordinator (Bryan Turner - 1:124/7013), or compile the
nodelist (Linlist.###) and send it to 121:121/0 or to your closest
Area Host (listed in CONTACTS.LST), or upload the application to
either Linear Net HQ - RabbitLand II or to one of the other member BBS's
(as a private upload to the sysop). He/she will then see that your
application is sent to the appropriate person.
4. Include a brief message to introduce yourself. Tell me about your board,
why you're interested in this network, etc.... This is not mandatory,
but it would be nice :)
After your application has been reviewed and accepted, the following will
happen:
1. Your Area Host will assign you both a node number and a Mail Hub, and
will pass on your application and information to the Net Coordinator who
will add you to the Nodelist (which is updated each Friday).
2. Your Mail Hub will then contact you, via netmail or on your BBS. At
that time you will receive your node number and any other information
you may need. The Hub will also give you any help you may need in
setting up Linear Net on your BBS.
3. You will then need to choose which echoes you wish to receive, and set
them up in your BBS's message areas. You will then need to send an
Area fix request to your Mail Hub. If you are unsure of how to do an
Area fix, your Hub will instruct you on what to do. If you are unsure on
how to set up any of the InterBBS games, your Hub will help you with
that as well.
After all of this, you will be in business! Since this net is rather small
at this time, I would really appreciate it if you would take as many of
the echoes as you can. As the net grows and new echoes are added, you will
have the choice to add the new echoes (except for Required echoes - you MUST
receive these.)
If you would like an updated LINAPP.ZIP info packet, you may FileReq or
Download one at any time from Linear Net HQ - RabbitLand II, or from
any of the Mail Hubs, Area Hosts, or Regional Hubs.
Well, that's about it. If you have ANY questions, please don't hesitate to
contact the Net Coordinator or any other Linear Net members.
Thanks again for your interest!
